Compatibility

Built for privacy ROMs — and honest about what works.

Burn targets Android users who care about de-Googled and open-source builds. The app probes your device at runtime and only arms triggers your ROM can actually support.

Principles

Scanned on-device

After install, Burn runs a compatibility scan and disables or warns on triggers your ROM cannot support — no guesswork.

No Play Store dependency

Burn ships as a direct signed APK from burner.tel. Privacy ROM users are not forced through Google Play.

Privacy ROMs first

GrapheneOS, AOSP, Lineage, Calyx, and other de-Googled builds are first-class targets, not afterthoughts.

Platforms

Privacy ROMs & Android builds

GrapheneOS

Supported

Burn is designed for privacy-first ROMs. GrapheneOS builds are a primary target — on-device triggers, Device Owner provisioning, and local evaluation all work without Google Play Services.

  • Direct APK install via burner.tel or QR provisioning
  • No Google Play Services required for core protection
  • Buddy push may rely on polling when FCM is unavailable

AOSP / vanilla Android

Supported

Stock AOSP-style builds and open-source Android forks that keep standard system APIs behave as expected with Burn's compatibility scanner.

  • Device Owner mode via QR provisioning on supported hardware
  • Run the in-app compatibility scan after install

LineageOS

Supported

LineageOS and similar community ROMs are supported. Burn probes for missing or stubbed APIs at runtime and disables triggers that cannot run safely.

  • Some OEM-specific sensors may warn instead of pass
  • Re-run the compatibility scan after major ROM updates

CalyxOS

Supported

CalyxOS users can sideload Burn and use the same direct-APK update feed from burner.tel with SHA-256 verification before install.

  • MicroG presence does not change Burn's on-device-only trigger model

/e/OS & DivestOS

Supported

De-Googled ROMs that preserve Android's device-admin and sensor APIs are compatible. Burn does not depend on proprietary OEM services.

  • Use the setup guide for USB or QR provisioning

Stock manufacturer Android

Partial

Burn installs on most modern Android 10+ devices, but some vendor skins restrict Device Owner, background sensors, or USB policies.

  • Device Owner wipe requires QR provisioning — not available from Play installs
  • The compatibility scan flags features your build cannot support
  • Prefer privacy ROMs for the fullest trigger set
After install

Run the compatibility scan

Open Burn → Settings → Compatibility scan. The app checks sensors, device-admin APIs, boot receivers, and other dependencies — then enables, warns, or disables each trigger accordingly. Re-run after ROM upgrades.
